NSW Opposition Leader visits Wetherill Park to talk job creation with local business leaders

NSW Opposition Leader Luke Foley today said a Labor Government would focus on job creation – including growing smart jobs and opportunities across western Sydney.

Mr Foley joined Labor candidate for Prospect Hugh McDermott on a tour of western Sydney business Tieman Industries Ltd in Wetherill Park to highlight the need for more smart jobs in the region.

Tieman Industries is a market leader in the design, manufacture and service of bulk road tankers in Wetherill Park.

Mr Foley also joined representatives of the Cumberland Business Chamber to discuss job creation in Western Sydney.

“A key priority for the future of the state needs to be supporting the creation of thousands of more jobs in Western Sydney,” Mr Foley said.

“I said on the day I was elected Labor Leader that I wanted to present a positive vision for the state – with policies that will create new jobs in all of our suburbs and regions.

“A key part of this will be growing smart jobs right across Western Sydney.

“By creating more jobs close to home we can reduce the length of the daily commute to work, relieve congestion on our roads, trains and buses, and give people more time with their loved ones.

“I want to see the residents of the south and the west of Sydney have the same opportunities in life that are available to the residents of the city’s north and east.

“I want to engage and listen to the business community – including those successful businesses already operating across western Sydney – so that NSW becomes the economic powerhouse of the country.

Labor Candidate for Prospect Hugh McDermott said he was very pleased to be able to show Mr Foley the innovative businesses employing hundreds of local people already operating in Western Sydney.

“Places like Wetherill Park are the suburbs where the bright sparks of innovation are being ignited and a Labor Government wants to be a strong partner with business in driving a lot more of it.”
