The Berejiklian Government’s neglect of Henry Lawson Drive has resulted in increased commute times, meaning East Hills residents spender longer away from their homes and families as more development brings added congestion to the area.

NSW Labor Leader Luke Foley joined Labor Member for Bankstown Tania Mihailuk and Labor’s Candidate for East Hills Cameron Murphy to see firsthand the congestion of Henry Lawson Drive.

Despite some residents being forced to queue as long as 25 minutes in peak hour to turn on and off the motorway, no money was allocated in the 2017-18 budget for an investigation or upgrade of Henry Lawson Drive.

Traffic on the major local arterial road is expected to increase dramatically over the next few years with the completion of the Moorebank Intermodal and a huge spike in dwelling approvals.

In the last 12 months 3,030 dwellings were approved in the Canterbury-Bankstown Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, the NSW Government’s rezoning of land on the nearby Riverlands Golf Course will see an additional 800 dwellings in the region and put more pressure on the local road.

Mr Foley is currently visiting sites of Liberal neglect ahead of the 2019 State election.
