Labor Leader Luke Foley has today joined Labor candidate Lucy Mannering to endorse her campaign for the state seat of Oatley.

Ms Mannering is a third generation local to the Oatley area and is currently raising her three children in the community.

Labor's campaign will be focused on the Berejiklian Government’s wrong priorities of spending $2.2 billion on Sydney stadiums, instead of investing in the community’s local schools and hospitals.

As a former legal counsel for Transport for NSW, Ms Mannering has seen first-hand how the government’s wrong priorities, mistakes and cost blow outs have hampered the delivery of key projects and put increasing pressure on local families.

Mr Foley pointed to the ongoing issue of the school maintenance backlog as evidence of neglect for the seat by the Liberal Government and its incumbent MP.

Figures released under Freedom of Information revealed the maintenance backlog for the Oatley electorate is close to $5 million with less 25% of the backlog allocated in anticipated expenditure.

Ms Mannering also raised the issues of overdevelopment, green spaces and the Government’s new train timetable has local issues that she will be campaigning on.

“I am proud to stand with Lucy Mannering as Labor’s candidate for Oatley. She is someone committed to her community.

“The Liberal’s $2.2 billion stadium plan is seeing communities like Oatley go without. Under Labor they will have a champion in Lucy fighting for better schools and hospitals in the area.”
