If you go into the woods today you're sure of a big surprise...Government issues record numbers of hunting licenses

Shadow Minister for the Environment and Climate Change, Luke Foley today released data revealing the O'Farrell Government has approved record numbers of hunters in State Forests.

In less than 110 days, the O'Farrell Government has approved 3,832 restricted NSW Game Hunting Licences for NSW State Forests.

On average, this is 100 a month more than the previous Labor Government.

If the O'Farrell Government continues at this rate, they will approve almost 5,000 extra hunting licenses in this term of Government.

The data was released last night following questions on notice from Labor MLC Walt Secord, following the Government's unprecedented decision to grant hunters access to 142 State Forests for the next 10 years.

"If you go into the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise – because Barry O'Farrell has approved record numbers of hunters in NSW State Forests," Mr Foley said.

"Mr O'Farrell is allowing a fringe interest party to call the shots under his Government.

"We have hunters rampaging through our forests, marine park protections being ripped apart, open season on critically endangered species and weapons training being proposed for our school children.

"The Shooters and Fishers Party are running riot and the Premier and his Environment Minister are giving them the green light."
