NSW is again at risk of losing vital doctors – after Scotland’s clarion call to Scottish-born and trained doctors between the ages of 35 and 55 to return.

This is the second attempt in three weeks by United Kingdom governments to poach NSW- based medical staff from here.

The National Health Service in Scotland has begun a campaign to get Scottish-trained doctors to return by a Facebook and advertising blitz.

In August, the London Ambulance Service launched a campaign to lure up to 200 senior Australian paramedics to the United Kingdom.

Quotes attributable to Shadow Minister for Health Walt Secord

“NSW is home to some of the best medical staff in the world and the Baird and Abbott governments must do everything in its power to help keep them here.”

“The NSW health and hospital system is under enormous pressure, but we need to have the best medical staff to respond to needs of our ageing and growing population.”

“It is no wonder that medical staff feel the pressure of a health system at breaking point due to the Abbott and Baird government cuts to the health and hospital system.”
