CBD LIGHT RAIL IN CHAOS AS DIRECTOR LEAVES

-->

NSW Opposition Leader Luke Foley says the disastrous CBD light rail is in more turmoil following the departure of its project director, Stephen Troughton.

Mr Foley said that a few weeks ago, Mr Troughton was testifying before a parliamentary committee defending the project on behalf of the government.

Now he’s gone. The people who should be losing their jobs over this terrible project are the Premier and the Transport Minister.

NSW Shadow Minister for Planning and Infrastructure Michael Daley said the project was started by the Premier when she was Transport Minister, is now more than a year late, hundreds of millions of dollars over budget and is the subject of a $1.2 billion law suit.

Mr Daley said that many small business operators along the route have suffered financial and emotional distress because of the mismanagement and delays.

Some businesses have even been forced to close because of their financial losses directly linked to the project’s mismanagement.

A parliamentary enquire recently heard of the emotional and mental anguish many had suffered as a result of the Government’s mismanagement.

Mr Foley said it was time for Ms Berejiklian and Mr Constance to take personal responsibility for the shambles the project has become rather than looking for scapegoats.
