CABINET LEAKS: BEREJIKLIAN GOVERNMENT STILL HAS NO PLAN FOR WESTCONNEX MISSING LINK TO THE AIRPORT

-->

The Berejiklian Government has lost control of yet another key section of the WestConnex toll road - with cost blowouts, financing holes, construction issues and still no finish date warranting a “red alert” for the project.

Explosive secret government documents reveal holes in the plans for the Sydney Gateway, which should link WestConnex to the Sydney Airport and Port Botany, despite being the original justification for the $17 billion toll road.

It is a further revelation to come out of the unprecedented Berejiklian Government leak which states that for the Sydney Gateway “…formal costs are significantly higher than the original strategic estimate of $800 million, and the rail component remains unfunded.”

The essential component of WestConnex is also the only stage that has listed its completion date as TBC.

This comes on top of revelations yesterday that WestConnex has been hit by $1.05 billion in contractor claims due to unforeseen planning conditions, planning approval delays and site contaminations.

Further, the M4 widening will not be completed on time or on budget after the project missed its baseline completion date of February 2017 and is slated to be completed $20 million over budget.

Quotes attributable to NSW Opposition Leader Luke Foley

“The more we see being leaked – the worse it gets for the Berejiklian Government.

“The WestConnex project doesn’t make sense without a link to the airport, but years later the Government still has no clue how to get there.

“The picture being painted here is one of mismanaged government projects.”
