Whilst the NSW Government refuses to air condition Western Sydney schools the amount they are willing to spend on stadiums appears boundless with revelations Cricket NSW will now have to be compensated under their plans to demolish Allianz Stadium.

On top of the $2.5 billion stadium splurge, the Berejiklian Government is planning to handover taxpayer money to Cricket NSW, the Roosters, the Waratahs, and Sydney FC, a move which NSW Opposition Leader Luke Foley is describing as “truly scandalous”.

Today The Australian reports that despite Cricket NSW receiving assurances that they would remain in their current premises, the Minister for Sport has let them down and the NSW taxpayer will be forking out the bill.

There will be a government contribution to Cricket NSW’s new headquarters, “..as well as compensation to Allianz co-tenants the Roosters, Sydney FC and the Waratahs as they relocate during construction.”

The out-of-touch Berejiklian Government’s stadium strategy will rob the State of money that should be spent on schools and hospitals.

A Foley Labor government will prioritise funding for schools and hospitals.

Quotes attributable to NSW Opposition Leader Luke Foley

“This is truly scandalous.

“As kids swelter in un-airconditioned schools in Western Sydney, there appears to be a bottomless pot of money that the Premier is willing to splash on her out-of-touch stadium splurge.

“This is money that should go to schools and hospitals; they come first and will always do so under a Labor government.”

Quotes attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport Lynda Voltz

“The Minister for Sport is a repeat offender.

“First the Minister kept reassuring the community Parramatta Pool wouldn't be demolished - it was, and then he said Cricket NSW wouldn't be touched and now it also appears destined for demolition ball.

“The big loser is community sport as more stadium dollars are eaten up to replace existing infrastructure.”
